I was at the Chicago Wordpress Meetup last weekend. You can see a picture of me listening to people talk about the awesomeness of Wordpress on the Meetup site: I’m at the far left, in the black sweater.

What Happened to the Republican Party, According to Silence

“It’d be nice if Republicans would act like they do in their campaign promises. They did that for a couple of years, then got stuck on this Captain Ahab-esque quest to sink the Clintanic.” – Silence

Broken

I was hoping to an exploration post today, but didn’t go outside for anything other than a class due to the extremely cold temperatures here in Chicago right now. While I was headed back home, I overhead someone listening to “Broken” with Seether and Amy Lee. Yes, the Evanescence person. Here’s a video of “Broken” on YouTube.

Before looking the song up online, I wasn’t aware that the female vocals in this song were Amy Lee, that there was a version that didn’t include her (it has a much more subdued sound to it). Or that she tends to design her own clothes.

My Mind Just Had a BSOD

Seen on The Economic Way of Thinking, the blog From ABBA to Led Zeppelin:

Based off of the James Hetfield lyricsin the song Master Of Puppets, describe why someone would continue to engage in behavior that is self-damaging, expensive, and time consuming.

My brain hurts, and it doesn’t have anything to do with the question posed.

Found this song by YouTube’s audio swap feature. It’s pretty cool.

Exploring: Lincoln Park Zoo

Filed under:Explore And Create, Silly — posted by Nic "RedWord" Smith on January 3, 02009 @ 10:30 PM

I decide to go to the zoo today as part of my 2009 Explore & Create theme. The bus ride there was more interesting; they had Zoo Lights going, but the entire experience struck me as kind of thrown-together. Anyway, here are some pics:

The very first pic is of a memorial to David Kennison, supposedly the last survivor of the Boston Tea Party. I found a better pic (you can zoom in on the text) with more information online. The zoo’s “farm” area is actually in the background. The next picture is the only really “good” one of the Zoo Lights display that I got. That is the most demented octopus I’ve ever seen. The rest are animals I saw. Overall, I think zoo trips are much cooler when you’re a kid, and definitely more of a summer event.

Happy New Year – My 2009 Theme is “Explore And Create”

A Happy 2009 to All. My 2009 Theme is “Explore And Create.” I’ll be finishing off a lot of the “Creating” that I started in 2009, as well as starting a few new modest projects. Additionally, every week, I’m hoping to explore something and report on it. A lot of my exploration with be of actual, physical areas, but some of it may be more abstract than that.
